There is something special about stepping down into a sunken lounge. Maybe it feels more like a seperate oasis or perhaps it is cosier than the traditional open plan we have all adopted. Either way, I predict that the sunken lounge will be having a renaissance in 2022.
Whether it is added drama, providing more storage or building a sense of a seperate spaces, the sunken lounge offers a lot of design inspiration. The step down into another space can make a nice transition in a otherwise open plan space.
Sometimes the sunken lounge can be squeezed into a tight space providing a nook or reading space that would be otherwise not taken advantage of.
The use of the sunken lounge outside in the garden area can provide an uninterrupted view and a sense of place.
So when planning your renovation, maybe consider how you can add a step or two to create a seperate space, sunken lounge inside or outside.
